Recovery

Reach for the sky with the open eye,

let your arms be your wings and thoughts be your guide,

Your past is gone only the good remains,

let that be enough to hold you; contain.

Rest in place take your time don't rush,

We're all here together in God we trust.

We took step one because we're all here,

We talk about in groups and tears we share.

We came to believe and put our trust in God,

A power greater than us that will keep us alive.

We share the same thing and that would be pain,

Let's stay in recovery we have our life's to gain.

I once heard a brother share about the state of emergency,

That means stop doing drugs and make it an urgency.

Always stay clear of your triggers and fears,

And always be aware; To raise your hand and share.

Get it off your chest don't hold on,

They say when you share all the weight will be gone.

We're all fighting for our lives,

There's no room for error,

My recovery is my recovery so I hold it dearer.

I look around the room I see pretty and handsome,

I'm willing to pay the price to get my life out of ransom.

So here we are,

We all need one another,

If I said anything wrong to you I want to apologize my brother.

It's time to get butt naked and expose the pain,

Cause if you don't you will stay insane.

So it's time,

Actions speak loud,

Walk and talk with your head up proud.

We say our goals in the morning and repeat them at night,

Keep striving in recovery it's going to be alright.

No one said it be easy nor will it not,

In between easy in hard;

Now that's one hell of a shot.

Look at the speaker and listen to his story,

At the end of the day they became victorious.

But don't forget we're all a work in progress,

One day at a time a power greater than us,

Wrap my disease up and put it to rest.
